Applicants who have successfully completed a Diploma in Early Childhood Education (MTCU funding code 51211) at an Ontario College are eligible for advanced standing into Level 5 of the Fanshawe College Early Childhood Leadership degree as follows:
To be eligible for transfer credit, students must meet the following requirements:
- Fanshawe College’s standard entry requirements, per Fanshawe College Policy A108 – Admission of Students to Post-secondary Programs, and any other program specific requirements.
- successful completion of the Early Childhood Education 2-year diploma
- an overall average of 2.5 (C+ grade) in accordance with Fanshawe Policy A112
- completion of the summer bridging semester, as specified below
The summer bridging semester runs from May to August and consists of the following four courses:
- Bridging Course #1: Evidence Based Practice in Early Childhood
- Bridging Course #2: Introduction to Early Childhood Leadership
- Composition & Rhetoric from the Honours Bachelor of Early Childhood Leadership program
- Degree Level Breadth Course Elective (it is recommended that this be a subject other than an SOSC course)
The anticipated schedule of student progression is a minimum of two years, including summer bridge, four academic levels and one co-op work term. Students need to contact their Program Coordinator to review their program completion plan. It is the student’s responsibility to ensure that all degree requirements are met prior to graduation.
