Applicants with a diploma (Technician or Technologist) in a directly allied discipline (e.g. Forestry, Ecosystem Management, Fish and Wildlife, Ecosystem Restoration) and a 70% average (GPA=3.0 on a v4.0 point scale, 70% grade), may, following an individual assessment, be eligible for admission to the third year of the Honours Bachelor of Science in Forestry or Honours Bachelor of Science in Environmental Management. Applicants with two or more years of relevant career experience acquired after the completion of a diploma with at least 65% (GPA=2.5 on a 4.0 point scale) in the final year of their program are eligible for admission consideration.
In order to enter the third year, applicants must successfully complete a transition program that runs for four weeks (Monday through Friday) prior to Field School. Dates will vary depending on the start of the academic year (please check Academic Calendar Important Dates). All students are required to take three courses (Natural Resources Management 2710 Natural Resource Science A, Natural Resources Management 2711 Natural Resource Science B, and Natural Resources Management 2712 Natural Resource Science C).
In addition, all transfer students should review their academic plan with their Program Chair to ensure the program requirements will be met by class selection.
Depending on the students’ background/diploma, and a review by the Program Chair, additional course(s) in specific areas may be assigned. Students must consult with their Program Chair within the first term to review graduation requirements. The Faculty of Natural Resource Management reserves the right to set the transition course requirements deemed appropriate for each individual student.
